I am removing my wallpaper and on the finished wood trim, in spots, there is a foggy film. I am trying to be very carful with the steamer but there are some small spots that get that film. Is there a way to get rid of it? Thanks.

  1. try using 0000 steel wool on it.

  2. The film, if it is that, is probably dissolved varnish due to the steam action of the paper remover.  It would have to be sanded off and refinished to match.

However, that said, there are a couple of products on the market that will soften the hardened bad varnish and dilute it a bit, then dry about as good as new.  You have to ask around for it at good paint departments.
