The Rothosen manager is delighted with the recent run of results but admits that the team is still not safe from relegation.
Hamburg SV have seen an amazing turn around since the arrival of Thorsten Fink in October last year. The manager has dragged the side, which was bottom of the table when he took over, to currently 10th on the Bundesliga
standings table. The club has lost just once in the league under Fink and is experiencing a remarkable revival this season.
Thorsten Fink claimed that the team is determined to win and has the passion to go far as the season further unfolds. Hamburg downed FC Koln in their recent away fixture in the Bundesliga courtesy a goal from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paolo-Guerrero-c29087 and
secured their sixth win of the season.
The manager insisted that his players have shown in the past few games that they are ready to fight for a place in the upper-half of the table. He remained confident that the performances will continue to come and the team will
end the season in a respectable position. However, he claimed that Hamburg have still not secured a place in the Bundesliga for next season as a difference of eight points is not enough.
“You could see the team really wanted this win, the lads battled away for it right to the very end. Over the course of the whole game, they earned it as well. First off, the result puts a bit of distance between ourselves and the
bottom of the table, but we know all our worries aren't over yet,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, FC Koln manager Stale Solbakken added that it was a close contest which any side could have won. He stated that his team has the better chances but they were unable to convert them and Hamburg ended the match
as worthy winners.
“Either team could have won. We were actually the better side at the start of the second half, but then we lost control of the match. Overall, Hamburg deserved the win,” he concluded.
Hamburg will next face Werder Bremen on Saturday, February 18, at the Imtech Arena.
