Finland Long Course Nationals 2011: Day one – Swimming update
Day one of the Finland Long Course Nationals 2011 got-off to a strong start with the impressive performances of Hanna Maria Seppala, Eetu Karvonen, Jenna Laukkanen and Matias Koski at Espoo, in Finland, on June 30.
In the Women’s 100m freestyle meet, Hanna Maria Seppala secured the first spot after she completed her swim in a winning time of 55.16 seconds. She was followed by Linda Laihorinne in a time of 57.08 seconds. Lotta Nevalainen wound up third in 57.68 seconds.
Laura Kurki was placed fourth in 57.78 seconds, while Kaisla Kollanus finished fifth in 57.91 seconds. Tessa Nurminen settled for sixth spot in a time of 58.06 seconds.
Eetu Karvonen nabbed the Men’s 100m breast-stroke event with a sterling time of 1 minute and 02.77 seconds, while Iisakki Ratilainen finished second in 1 minute and 03.75 seconds. Matti Mattsson earned third place honours after he touched the finishing wall
in a time of 1 minute and 03.75 seconds. Niko Hamalainen finished fourth in 1 minute and 04.02 seconds, whereas, Uula Auren settled fifth in 1 minute and 04.43 seconds. Ossi Oksa earned the sixth position in 1 minute and 04.80 seconds.
In the third exciting event, Jenna Laukkanen clinched the Women’s 200m back-stroke race with a victorious time of 2 minutes and 17.49 seconds. Vilma Ruotsalainen wound up second in 2 minutes and 21.51 seconds, while Janna Ovaska rounded out the top three
in 2 minutes and 21.84 seconds. Petra Soininen finished fourth in 2 minutes and 25.02 seconds, whereas, Emma Heikkila ended her swim in the fifth spot in 2 minutes and 25.49 seconds. Mimosa Jallow earned the sixth spot in 2 minutes and 26.07 seconds.
Matias Koski snagged the Men’s 400m freestyle crown with a triumphant time of 3 minutes and 58.91 seconds. Severi Allonen hit the finishing wall in 4 minutes and 00.36 seconds to secure the second spot, while Sami Juopperi settled third in time of 4 minutes
and 02.21 seconds. Petja Yritys surprisingly finished his swim in the eight spot, after he posted a time of 4 minutes and 19.88 seconds.
