Finn full of confidence
England fast bowler Steven Finn is full of confidence that England can secure a Test series win over Pakistan with victory in the final test at Lords.
England performed poorly during the last Test that allowed Pakistan to claw their way back in to the series. England still lead 2-1 in the series but Pakistan now have a golden opportunity to salvage a draw.
Finn has only just started his Test career and has not enjoyed the same success that he experienced when he made his debut against Pakistan. However, he says that his game feels good and he's chomping at the bit to have another crack at the Pakistani batsmen.
Finn has a number of skills and attributes that should allow him to put actions along with his words. However, the entire England team must perform better in the final Test match if the side want to head in to the Ashes this winter with momentum.
Finn's skills
Finn offers England something that the other bowlers in the side cannot. He is very tall, taller than Stuart Broad, and this creates angles and bounce that no other England players can create.
He's very fast and regularly touches than 90 miles per hour mark. This naturally gives the Pakistani batsmen less time to react and can force mistakes that a slower ball would not be able to generate.
It's very important that Finn has tasted success at an early stage in his career. This will give him the drive and the confidence to keep learning and keep getting better. He's taken 22 wickets from five Test matches, which is not a bad start for a fast bowler.
He said: "I think everything is very good at the moment. We pushed Pakistan hard in that last session. We bowled very well to a plan, Jimmy and Swanny bowled really well and have been real stand-out performers for us. We are very confident going into this last game."
The whole team
The whole England team has to perform a lot better in the final Test against Pakistan. The batting was very poor during the last match and only Alastair Cook emerged with any credit after scoring his 13th Test match century.
England were not as good as they normally are in the field and gave away far too many extra runs that allowed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 to get some momentum during the game. The main fielders in the side cannot give Pakistan a sniff because this will force mistakes and errors from the Pakistani batsmen.
Finn added: "We have had two resounding victories in this series so far and are still 2-1 up – I don't think that can be forgotten. I don't think we are going to take a different approach to this game. We go into every Test match wanting to win – and wanting to win resoundingly. It didn't quite happen at the Oval, we understand why it didn't happen and have assessed those things."
Betting advice
The England batting line-up will not perform as badly as they did during the last game because there are too many qualities for a repeat of the poor performance.
Be confident when backing England, they are traditionally strong against teams at Lords and will be looking to head off to the Ashes series in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 having won their last Test match.
Finn could be a candidate to take five wickets in the last game along with James Anderson or Graeme Swann. Keep in mind that Finn plays his county cricket for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Middlesex-c817 who play their home games at Lords. Therefore he will know better than most how to play on the Lords surface.
