Finn ready for Ashes sledging
Steven Finn the dark horse, tall lanky 21 year old seamer has made his plans clear; he is completely ready for any verbal stick that comes his way during his tour of Australia for the Ashes. His comments came after the Australian all rounder Shane Watson
had said that the novice seamer would most certainly be singled out for ‘sledging’.
Sledging is a particular term used in cricket where some players aim to gain a competitive advantage against another player by insulting, abusing or verbally intimidating the opposing bowler or batsman. Australians are famous for inventing this particular
art, and former captain of Australia Steve Waugh referred to this practice as gradual ‘mental disintegration’.
Steven Finn is a 6ft 7 inch tall medium fast bowler and has only played eight Test matches ever since he has made his debut against the ‘minnows’ http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 this year. He is however considered by many as a key weapon for the England side, along with Chris
Tremlett who is another very tall bowler as well. However the Australian’s were confident that they could take complete advantage of his inexperience when he comes in for the Ashes later this year.
"We can make the most of Finn's inexperience. We want to test his durability as a bowler," http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746."
Finn who wasn’t even born the last time England won a Test series in Australia feels that he would be able to deal with the Kangaroos and rattle some cages while he’s at it.
"I don't know if there will be a lot of sledging. I haven't played in an Ashes series before but if there is I'll just concentrate on putting the ball on a good length and keeping my focus on that regardless of whatever they say."
Finn promises a lot of potential in terms of bowling and his performance against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 in the summers where he bagged 19 wickets, and his career 32 wickets in 8 tests at an average of 23 have compelled the selectors to call him for the 16 man Ashes squad.
Finn further went on to claim rather excitedly that his team have been on a roll in the past few months playing exceptional cricket and if they continue to play this way, they will have all the chances to win the Ashes.
