Finnish International Junior Championships: Kalle Koljonen tames Iikka Heino to earn glory
Finland’s emerging shuttler Kalle Koljonen showed his spark in the arena as he won the Men’s Singles title after thrashing his lower ranked compatriot Iikka Heino in the final battle of FORZA Finnish International Junior Championships 2012 in Finland, on
Sunday, November 25.
The passionate Koljonen, who was top seed in main draw of the championship, was in tremendous form in the arena as he played attacking and positive badminton all the way and tamed his second seeded opponent in just 32 minutes.
Koljonen was in smashing form as he played with incredible speed and showed his brilliance on crucial moments in the match. He stayed fully focused and confident on court and wrapped up victory in straight sets with a crushing margin on the board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Heino put up amazing show of attacking and aggressive badminton in the opening set but failed to maintain his positive run on crucial stages and went down to his compatriot in straight games.
The higher ranked Koljonen delivered an extraordinary performance in the opening points of first game but his rival also put up an equally amazing show by matching the pace of rallies.
The lofty skills of both players kept them close on score board and they failed to create a considerable gap until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break, the top seeded Koljonen started to dictate the pace of rallies as he took the bird early and injected variations in his shots.
The impressive Koljonen remained focused and comfortable in the arena at the concluding points of opening game and remained successful in winning the set with a three-point advantage of 21-18.
In the second game, things were completely difference as Koljonen played with extreme aggression in the arena as he took the bird early from all areas and easily pushed Heino on back foot until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the top seeded Finnish shuttler continued delivering impressive performance on court and managed to grab the second set with an incredible difference of 21-10.
Koljonen won the Men’s Singles crown in straight sets by taking just 32 minutes with an inspiring 21-18 and 21-10 score on the board.
