Finnish Open 2012: Kasper Lehikoinen hammers Iikka Heino in Men’s Singles qualifying round
Finland’s Kasper Lehikoinen was in tremendous form when he defeated his compatriot Iikka Heino in Men’s Singles qualifying round of Finnish Open 2012 in Finland, on Thursday, March 29.
Kasper showed his elevated craft as he did not spare any chance for his team-mate to dominate the pace of game at any stage.
He was in full swing as he played flawless badminton and ended the match in straight games with an impressive margin by taking just 26 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Iikka failed to break the rhythm of his in-form opponent in both games and lost the match without taking any set.
In the first set, both men kept the tempo of rallies quite fast and remained toe-to-toe in the opening points.
However, Kasper started to play with variations and precision and managed to get stronger in the game. He was in complete control of the pace and pushed his opponent in all corners.
Iikka failed to maintain his speed and started to take the bird late which helped his rival to set up a wonderful lead until the end of first half in opening set.
After the break, Kasper continued his positive run in the match and did not spare any chance for his team-mate to fight back in the match.
Kasper remained on track in the entire set and easily bagged it with a fabulous 21-14 margin on the score board.
In the second game, Kasper started his run in the similar fashion as he played with wonderful precision and remained in complete control throughout the opening half.
On the other hand, Iikka tried to play positive badminton but he could not control the pace of rallies and remained struggling far behind on the score board.
Until the one-minute interval, Kasper was in comfortable position as he took a wonderful lead.
After the break, Kasper remained positive in the game and did not drop his speed at any stage. He bagged the second game in an inspiring manner with an incredible margin of 21-13.
Kasper emerged as the victorious in this 26-minute contest with a 21-14 and 21-13 score on the board.
