Finrot from too much salt in my tank.

If I used salt in my tank which caused fin rot in my goldfish; how do I treat the finrot-besides changing the water and not adding anymore salt?

  2. salt would never cause fin rot. fin rot is caused by parasites, not salt. actually, all you can do is keep changing water to get rid of the parasites. unfortunately, the fins wont grow back.

  3. Salt isn't going to cause fin-rot. Fin-rot is caused by lack of water maintenance. Do some water changes and you should be able to get rid of the fin-rot without medication.  

  4. "Fin rot" is a bacterial infection, entirely unrelated to salt.  However, salt is an irritant, and can destroy the fins if the concentrations are too high.  What fish is losing its fins and how much salt is in the water?  The best thing you can do is water change every day to remove the salt.
