Fintan Keown overpowers John Amond in Men’s Singles semi-final at Connacht Junior Grade A Open
Fintan Keown, who is an emerging shuttler from Ireland, made his presence strongly felt as he reached into Men’s Singles final after defeating John Amond in semi-final battle at Connacht Junior Grade A Open 2012 on Sunday, December 30, in Ireland.
Fintan put in extra effort to prove his mettle on court and remained successful in defeating his in-form challenger in hard-fought three games with a close margin on the score board.
Meanwhile, Amond tried his best to play positive badminton and took the second game before losing the match in three sets with a respectable margin.
Fintan played with excellent control in his shots and managed to take over the pace of rallies from opening rallies of the first game.
The impressive variations in Fintan’s shots assisted him to maintain his domination against his challenger in the arena.
It was Fintan who did not show any mercy to his aggressive challenger in the first half and took a spectacular lead on score board.
After the one-minute interval, Fintan stayed focused on court and remained successful in keeping a comfortable difference.
It was a smooth ride for the aggressive Fintan who did not face any reasonable fight from his rival and won the opening game with a comfortable 21-10 margin on the board.
However, in the second game, it was Amond who displayed his lofty craft in the arena and took a reasonable lead until the break.
After the one-minute interval, Fintan tried to play controlled badminton but he could not dictate and pace and lost the set with a reasonable margin of 17-21.
In the decider, Fintan changed his tactics and played with wonderful precision that enabled him to stay in commanding position until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the in-form Fintan continued putting up fascinating show of attacking badminton and wrapped up the final set with a decent total of 21-17.
Fintan emerged as the winner in this thrilling rubber-set semi-final as he ended up the winning streak of Amond by finishing off the contest in three games with a reasonable 21-10, 17-21 and 21-17 score on the board.
