http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giancarlo-c14806 Antognoni, the legendary Viola player, has gone on to remark on the fortunes of his former employers and said they are a striker short of being a top side.
Fiorentina have been performing marvellously well during this season and have surprised everyone with their commitment in play as well as the attacking flair they have brought along with their new project. After a couple of mediocre campaigns which has seen
the team battling it out in the relegation zone and the mediocrities of the Serie A, the owners of the club felt that the time was right to make a mark in the upcoming campaign, and invested heavily.
Along with their massive investment, they also looked to procure the signings of a new head coach and a new sporting director, two personnel who would make sure that the investments are backed with a sound project. Thereby, they went on to hire the services
of new head coach Vincenzo Montella, and the former sporting director of AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603, Daniele Prade. The two have worked well in tandem and a lot of that has got to do with the fact that the pair has worked before as well, although not in the same relationship,
but they were at AS Roma as well.
They have brought along with them a new set of ideas at the club and along with the faith of the owners, the Della Valle family; they went on to sign 18 players in the summer transfer window. Even though lauding the efforts made by the club and the team
from the start of the campaign, the legendary Gigliati player went on to suggest that his former employees are in need of a good centre forward.
Despite saying this, he went on to remark that he had nothing against the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luca-Toni-c22526 and the other strikers on the roster of the club, but suggested:
“This Fiorentina side needs a centre-forward. I have great respect for Luca Toni and the others, but they definitely require a forward.”
Fiorentina were close to signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254 last season, however, the Bulgarian chose to stay in the Premier League.
