The Viola coach insists that the club is neither in crisis nor threatened by relegation; urges the fans to show their real strength by supporting the team.
Fiorentina are in the middle of a relegation battle with Chievo, but Delio Rossi insists that the club is not in crisis, and the dismal form is only because the lads are not united in a proper way.
The Gigliati tactician insisted that the importance of cohesion among the players cannot be undermined, and the fact that the team is slipping downwards in the Serie A points table, has a lot to do with the lack of unity in the team. The manager insisted
that in the past he has had players who do not get along very well, but told that the current situation is much different than that. He insisted that harmony is a very valuable attribute for the club as well as the individuals.
While talking to the press, the Fiorentina chief said:
“In every team unity is important. I’ve had in my career players who did not get along, but they helped each other on the field. Here the group is in place, but at times the team is not united in the right way. Our pre-match training camp helped to forge
greater cohesion, as I believe a united locker room can give you an extra three or four points per season.”
The Gigliati boss insisted that the time calls for them to stay united instead of pointing fingers at each other in search of scapegoat. The tactitian urged the fans to express their support to the struggling club, as this is a wonderful opportunity for
them to show their real strength.
“This is not the time to be looking for scapegoats. We need the fans to stay with us, as their real strength has to emerge now.”
The manager insisted that out of the nine matches remaining this season, five are home fixtures, and the team can easily steer their season away from the relegation by capitalizing on those opportunities alone.
Rossi dismissed all rumours of his axing from Fiorentina stating that he is not a caretaker at the club, rather holds a contract for two years. The veteran insisted that he is focussed entirely on the present, and persisted that the next fixture against
Chievo Verona is a crucial challenge for the club.
