The former Palermo coach believes that La Viola players do not lack mental focus; however he concedes that his team needs to start playing like a cohesive unit.
The Fiorentina boss was speaking to the press about the Gigliati’s defeat at the hands of Napoli at Stadio Artemio Franchi recently.
La Viola showed glimpses of their inconsistency once again, as their two-match winning run in the Serie A came to an end with the defeat.
Cries of mental weakness have been cited as a reason for the Viola’s results, but Rossi has denied such uproars. The 51-year-old has stated that the Fiorentina side is struggling for consistency, and the results are not a reflection
of his squads’ mental state.
Reflecting on the match against the Partenopei side, the former Lazio manager insisted:
“Against Napoli we have crumbled in performance, whilst against Lecce there had been no reaction. We have shown that we still have many ups and downs, we have to improve and become more of a team.”
Rossi believes that his team needs to concentrate on playing together and working as a team, and has identified the areas where the team needs to perform better.
The former Genoa boss commented on the weaknesses, and said:
“We do not need a psychologist, we just need to work. The defeat against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 was painful, but we were not phenomenal before and now we are not asses. We play too individually; we must become more of a team.”
Rossi will have his work cut out for La Viola’s next challenge in the Serie A, as they will be travelling to Bologna for the rescheduled game of matchday 21. Bologna come into his game on the back of an emphatic 3-0 victory over
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan. The Felsinei have remained unbeaten in their last six games.
After taking on Stefano Pioli’s men, La Viola will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 at the weekend. Fiorentina are placed 12th in the league table after picking up 28 points from 22 matches played so far.
