Fiorentina striker Alberto Gilardino attracting interest from Olympique de Marseille and Lyonnais
According to reports in Rhone, Ligue 1 giants Olympique de Lyonnais and Olympique de Marseille are keen on signing Italy International, Alberto Gilardino, from Serie A side Fiorentina. It has been rumoured for the last few months that the former AC Milan
striker is looking for a move away from the Tuscany club after the 2010/11 season ends. Standing in ninth place in the Serie A standings, Fiorentina have slim chances of featuring in Europe next season.
The situation might lead to some key players departing the Florence-based club. Peruvian International Vargas has been linked with an exit for some time now and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alberto-Gilardino-c4324 has now joined the list of players who might consider a move away from the
Italian peninsula. Though Gilardino initially claimed that he is happy at Fiorentina, a lucrative offer and change of scenery might force the Italian to think again.
The 28-year-old striker joined Fiorentina from AC Milan in the summer of 2008 and his contract at Fiorentina will expire in June 2013; the player might not come cheap for either Marseille or Lyon. Speculations suggest that an offer in the region of 15 million
Euros might be enough for the Viola officials to let go of the player.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 are expecting to see many established stars leave the club by the end of the current campaign, which means that the club will have to re-build in the summer for the upcoming season. Lyon, on the other hand, would need a new striker
the next season should Bafetimbi Gomis or Lisandro Lopez leave the seven-time Ligue 1 champions.
However, the French giants will have a fight on their hands in order to land the striker. Local Florence newspaper, La Repubblica, claims that UEFA Champions League hopefuls http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sevilla-FC-c40484 are also interested in signing the experienced
striker, which means the player will have a lot of options to choose from.
So far, it has not been confirmed if a club has approached Gilardino, though, it is very likely that the player will leave Fiorentina as soon as the season ends.
