Fiorentina’s Alberto Gilardino has invited interest from the French Ligue 1 outfit, Olympique Marseille and the striker is likely to land in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 before the start of 2011/12 campaign. The striker has been performing well ever since he joined from AC Milan
and now Les Phoceens want to bring him to Stade Velodrome.
The 28-year-old has been scoring goals on a consistent basis for the Lillies and Marseille desperately want his services in order to go one step further during the upcoming 2011/12 season. It has been reported that the Ligue 1 titans are not pleased by their
striker Andre-Pierre Gignac. Should the deal go through, Gilardino will certainly replace the current Marseille’s front man.
Gilardino’s current contract with the club expires during the summer of 2013 but the club’s officials have already confirmed that any offer around 10 million Euros mark will be acceptable. The Viola themselves are looking for a replacement of the 28-year-old
as they believe that younger blood will suit the club’s requirements.
The Italian joined Fiorentina in 2008 from the current Serie A champions, AC Milan, and has made over a 100 league appearances ever since. From his 105 Serie A appearances for Viola, he has bagged 46 goals so far and could well appear in France the next
time he takes the field.
He also has made 46 International appearances for the Italian national side and has 17 goals to date. The striker also signalled his intentions of moving to France as he believed that he could get more challenges to face. The 28-year-old also made it clear
that he wouldn’t have any problem in switching as Marseille are a great team and there is always a chance of winning Silverware. Gilardino is rated highly across the globe and rated 166th in the Castrol EDGE Rankings.
Fiorentina are ninth in Serie A and their game against Brescia on Sunday, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/May-22-c39884, will mark the end of this year’s campaign. Marseille, on the other hand, are second in Ligue 1 and will play their penultimate game on Saturday, May 21, against Valenciennes.
