Firas Zahabi: Criticism on Greg Jackson is baseless as he is world’s best trainer – UFC News
Firas Zahabi believes the criticism over world renowned mixed martial art trainer Greg Jackson is baseless.
According to him, Greg’s success is visible from his fighters’ win stats.
“I think that's not true. If you look at who wins the most fight of the nights and submission of the night and knockout of the night, Greg is up there,” Zahabi insisted.
Zahabi was in a radio interview when he spoke regarding the matter. He even gave his opinion regarding the hurdles returning UFC welterweight fighter Georges St. Pierre can face in training.
The head trainer at Tri-Star Gym, Firas was of the view that some people are falsely criticising Greg for being a cautious trainer, a man who advises his clients to follow a cautious game plan to grab a win.
Zahabi who trains GSP along with Greg remarked numbers do not lie and considering Greg’s record to date, it is quite evident that he indeed is an outstanding trainer.
Faris stated, “His fighters are the ones with the most bonuses. I think it's just that when you're as big as Greg is, you're going to get criticism, because a lot of people are going to dislike you. If you look at it statistically, he's one of the most successful
winning and bonus coaches around. I really don't see how anybody can scrutinize him so much.”
Zahabi, who will look after GSP in the initial stages before he starts his formal training, also shared his reservations and the problems he and his team will face while aiding GSP.
It must be reminded that Pierre is coming after almost a year gap as he was forced by the severe ACL injury to leave the octagon for at least 10 months.
Georges recently got an ‘okay’ from the doctor and is going through fitness programme to coordinate the recently recuperated leg with the rest of the body.
Faris, commented that they will have to take care of the fact that GSP starts to balance both knees adding, that he is improving with every passing day and over all he is looking great in almost all the significant aspects.
Georges last defended his title in April against Jake Shields and since then has not entered the octagon even once.
From August it is expected that Pierre will start his training to prepare for upcoming title-defence bout against Carlos Condit.
