i don't know what the h**l is going on. i lost one already but the other seemed fine until last night. he is expelling lots and lots of mucous when he gets wet, so much so that he starts to choke and flail to fight it off of him. i cant keep him from water because hes an amphibian. i have however reduced the size of his water. (also i suspect that whatever bacteria is causing this is in the water.) unlike the other that died two days ago he is active and the other ones first symptom was that he got really bloated. i am a starving college student and dont have the money for the vet. i need serious advice please. please ask more if you think you can help and there isnt enough info.

  1. Since they don't require water to constantly support their bodies as some animals do I would try keeping it on very moist white paper towel temporarily, and change it morning and evening.  Also do bleach what you're keeping it in and any decorations (without it in there, of course :P) and rinse REALLY well; make sure you can't smell bleach, then rinse it a few more times.  If you're worried about the water source at all go ahead and boil the water you use for it, making sure to let it cool completely.  If you haven't been be sure to dechlorinate the water.

I'm not an amphibian expert, but these are things I would try if I were in this sort of situation.  I haven't seen anything like this happen with the toads we have at the zoo.
