Fire Fighters?

i want to pursue a carrier as a fire fighter but i literally have know idea what steps to take to get started anyone help?

In my area, you simply need to be apply at the fire fighter's academy and be accepted.  They will provide all of the training you need.  

You may want to look ahead and see what it takes for a promotion. That may require a degree and with the crazy firefighter schedule of 24 on/ 48 off, it may be worth it to get a full year or two of school under your belt before applying.

I live in NYC and you have to take a test that's given every four years.  Classes are given to help you pass the test, once you pass the written test than you will have to pass a very rigorous physical test that involves running, carrying a fire hose that's empty and one that's filled.  Carrying a dummy which weights about 200+ pounds up and down a ladder in case you have to bring out someone who's unconscious. There are also psychological and pass a background check.  If you have any felonies on your record that lets you out.  You should call or go to your local house and find out from them what you have to do to get in the Department.  Good luck and long carrer!!!
