Hi i had a fire in my home the other day and id say 75% of the damage is from the water and smoke. I talked to a few restoration companys and they said they have a program that the punch it what they have to clean and do and it prints out an estimate and they download the prices allowed by the insurance every quarter does anyone know where i can get this program at? i just want to double check their prices. Thanks!

  1. You can purchase this type of information, but the programs are very expensive (more than the value of your home).

If they are cleaning something and returning it to use, you shouldn't care about the cost, but instead whether it has been cleaned properly. (The insurance company is not going to spend more to clean it than it cost to replace it.)

The property that needs replaced, they should be able to provide you sources where you can purchase the items at the listed cost. That is how you can verify the price is correct.

  2. Um, you can't get it.  They pay big bucks for it, it's not given out.

Bottom line, though, you are free to call the contractor of your choice, and ask THEM to give you an estimate, also!

  3. You can rest assured that such information is NOT available to the general public.  Even if you could get your hands on the actual software, you would surely not gain access to the insurance company databases, which you would need in order to do any price checking.
