Fire in the sky real or not real??????

Do you mean can there be fire in the sky - yes, a fireball or meteor will create what appears to be a ball or streak of fire in the sky.  They are short-lived, natural phenomenon.

Do you mean the movie - its just another UFO fiction, just like all the other trash on this subject.

I have done a lot of reading on the Travis and Duane Walton story, including the Klass book on the subject, where he did a thorough investigation.

It appears they cooked up this story to get an excuse for failing to meet the terms of a tree-clearing contract with the government.  It would have been their second such failure.  At the time, the National Enquirer was running a contest for the best UFO story.  The prize was a million dollars, I think.  Say no more.  They faked the whole thing.  It worked.  They even won the Enquirer prize.

Then there were the magazine articles, books, appearances, etc.  Then the movie in 1993.  Basically, the Waltons and Mike Rogers have probably been living a life of leisure and fame for 33 years, all on the basis of a hoax.

Where did Travis go for the days he was "missing?"  It was discovered that a relative had a little cabin in the woods a couple miles away.  

This is the kind of thing that happens when UFO organizations get a hold of a story like this.  They should be handled by government investigation.  The manpower to bust these guys just wasn't available at the time.

I believe it was Dalis who confessed in jail a few years later.
