Firebeam strikes bright at the Haydock in the Group 3 EBF “Multiplex” George Formby Society Golden Jubilee Coniditions
The EBF “Multiplex” George Formby Society Golden Jubilee Coniditions, a Group 3 race for 3-year-olds and above was held on the 13th of September. The distance to be covered for a field set for nine was seven furlongs.
It seemed to be an almost exciting race for Firebeam who was in lead right out of the gate, geared up further into the first furlong and crossed the wire unchallenged by the rest of the pack.
He was ridden through the track under Eddie Ahern, trained by William Haggas.
Eddie Ahern also capitalised on the opportunity by displaying his skill set with expertise on the ground that day.
Even the runner up of the race, Al Aasifh did not pose to be a serious threat for Firebeam or put him under pressure to rush for the wire.
Al Aasifh started off in pursuit of the leaders but by the time he covered the second furlong he was chasing Firebeam, the definite leader.
Harry Herbert, racing manager for owners, Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, said, "I'm very pleased as it is always tough to make all in soft ground in competitive races. He's taking shape and really getting some strength about him now, so hopefully next year
he can develop into a Pattern-race performer”.
Al Aasifh was representing Godolphin, guided on the track for eventually being the runner-up by Richard Mullen while trained by Saeed Bin Suroor.
Field Of Dream was third in line, ridden by J-P Guillambert and under charge of Luca Cumani. Finishing fourth was Richard Hannon’s Cape To Rio under Pat Dobbs.
Firebeam did end up giving the rest of the contestants a handful on the track and also a race for which they had to struggle. He himself did end up countering some competition too.
Besides this very recent accomplishment, Firebeam stood third at the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Sprint (Handicap, the Ascot, Grade 2 for 3-year-old.
The runner-up for this race was Desert Law and the winner of the event turned out to be Morache Music under F M Berry. This was in August this season.
He claimed a victory back in July this season at the Wewillbuyyourcar.com.Stakes once again with jockey Eddie Ahern. The second position got taken away by Fityaan and Rigolleto managed the third holding.
After the Haydock how much and what will Firebeam achieve is yet to be disclosed.
