Firebeam to ignite the track of the Network Group Spring Trophy Stakes at Haydock
The Class 1 Network Group Spring Trophy Stakes (Listed Race) will be held at Haydock over seven furlongs on Saturday, 12th May. The £18,714 race has attracted a line-up of seven runners.
Besides Firebeam, Gramercy and Majestic Myles, the rest of the entries have already raced during the new season. The three mentioned will be racing their seasonal debuts. Among the contestants for the race, the only entry to have raced at Haydock is Firebeam.
Cadeaux Genereux’s four-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Firebelly, has raced six times during the career with 2011 marking his debut campaign. Throughout the six outings he has raced at different venues with the final race of the previous season at Haydock.
The victory at Haydock notched up his win count to three with the prior two being at Lingfield and York.
The four-year-old has maintained a decent profile throughout which the rankings have not gone down the third position.
William Haggas’ under charge had his career debut in the Crownhotel – Bawtry.Com Maiden Stakes at Doncaster over seven furlongs on 3rd April, 2011.
He settled right next to the 13/8 favourite of the race, King Of Jazz, after missing the race by 1 ¾ lengths. Firebeam was ridden by Kieren Fallon and was soon followed by With Hindsight.
The first success found its way to the Highclere Thoroughbred Racing-Blue Peter owned on 18th June in the Premier Benefit Solutions Maiden Stakes (Turf) at Lingfield over six furlongs.
The 4/7 favourite winner led the runner up, Escape To Glory, by six lengths.
Firebeam caught hold of the very next opportunity too that came in the form of the Wewillbuyyourcar.Com Stakes (Handicap) at York over seven furlongs on 8th July.
Fityaan, the runner up, had to miss the race by four and a half lengths.
Firebeam got deprived of the seasonal hat trick after finishing third in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Sprint (Handicap) on 6th August at Ascot over six furlongs. The race was won by Morache Music.
His final attempt and win of the season was in the E B F “Multiplex” George Formby Society Golden Jubilee Conditions Stakes on 13th September at Haydock over seven furlongs.
The 11/10 favourite winner took charge of the final two lengths which made Al Aasifh to settle second.
The four-year-old is to race the seasonal debut at Haydock today and has the potential of claiming the race.
