What are the best methods of fire prevention that I can take to make sure that my house is safe? What are some mistakes that lead to fires? Any other tips other that the obvious smoke detectors? Can my local fire department help me with anything?

  1. http://www.homesafetycouncil.org/safety_...

Check out this website.  It should give you plenty of information on how to safequard your home from fires.

Your local fire dept, can also give you brouchers and tips for fire safety.  Some cities will even have a fire chief or someone else come to your house and test all your smoke alarms CO2 alarms, etc, to make sure they are working properly.

Many mistakes are made in the kitchen...Also falling asleep with a cigerette, leaving a kerosene or gas heater on, candles, etc.  There are honestly so many little things that could cause a fire.

That's why, there aren't any candles in my house, nobody smokes in my house, there aren't any extra heating sources, and when cooking I take extra caution to keep it safe.

    Hope this helps..

  2. im not a firefighter but i think overloaded outlets are the main one  ask questions at fire dept they have answers to almost everything (there is no such thing as a stupid question)

  3. Quote from a local newspaper:

"The cause of the fire could not be determined because

the electrical system had not been connected."
