Firefox 3 showing Firefox 2?

I am posting this question using FF3 but my user-agent keeps showing FF2, I have my useragent below:

[Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/2.0.0.12]

I installed FF3 while having FF2 but they were kept on completely different drives, i uninstalled FF2 and noticed that i could not find any plugins compatible for FF3 since mozilla.org thought i was using FF2.

I could fix this using useragent switcher which helps a lot but it gets tiring to have to use it,

  1. I'd uninstall and reinstall FF3.  Something with the dual-installation has crossed things up.

    Hope that helps.

  2. You can change your user agent string permanently by entering "about:config" in your URL bar, creating a string variable called "general.useragent.override", and setting it's value to:

    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008072820 Firefox/3.0.1

  3. Are you sure you're clicking the correct shortcut? I'm guessing you're using a shortcut from the desktop or dock. Delete that shortcut, and open Firefox 3 from the Programs (Lower lest usually) menu, or browse to the Firefox 3 folder and double click the Program Icon. If the proper program now opens, create a new shortcut.
