Question:

Firefox is running, but not responding?

I often find that when I try to open up Firefox, I get a message that says "Firefox is running, but not responding. To open a new window, you must close the existing one, or restart your system."

It's not been a problem up until the last week. I try to use the Taskmanager, and in the applications, firefox is not running, but in the processes it is. When I click that, I get a warning message, that it could cause system instability and other stuff.

So yeah, any advice or insight would be appreciated.

  1. i often find the same problem. for me, it is due to a faulty add-on. when in task manager in the processes tab, just end the firefox process. most of the processes can be deleted without hurting your computer as long as it says "user" (or whatever you named your computer) in the user name column, with the exeption of explorer! do not end explorer!!!

  2. If you're sure that stopping the process won't harm the rest of the system, then just delete it. If it does make the computer go funny, just restart / un-plug the computer / smash with a sledge hammer and have another go.

If that doesn't solve it, try removing it and re-downloading it - chances are you've got some adware or virus, so run a viral-check too, like Norton or something.

  3. Hi unstall firefox and then install it again
