Are there any fires right now going on near or in Santa Barbara, California?

  1. Had the environmentalists, greenies not constrained the functionality of the U.S. Forestry Dept. you would have to worry about it.


  2. The big fire is the GAP Fire burning in the hills above Goleta.  I can see the flames from my house and there is ash everywhere.  Air quality in northern SB City, Goleta and the unincorporated area between SB and Goleta is poor.  Downtown SB is not too bad.  

    Last night, the fire caused a several hour power outage from Goleta to Carpinteria.  The SB independent and KEYT.com have good coverage of the fire.

  3. Yes. There is currently a fire burning. It is called the Gap Fire. It is 0% ccontained and has burned 200 acres. It is currently threatening 200 residence.
