Question:

Firewire card help?

I have bought a Firewire card (PCI card) and a Firewire cable. The PCI card fitted in my computer fine and the cable fits into it and my Sony DCR-HC27E Mini DV camcorder. It comes up on my computer. The reason I bought a Firewire card was to put movies from my camcorder onto the computer but I only see that it lets me record video with the camcorder connected to the computer. My computer is Windows XP. Does anyone know how I can get video from my camcorder to my computer?

  1. Make sure your videocamera is in playback mode.

  2. You need to give some more details, you should be able to on windows movie maker,or any other program like Nero, I have a firewire and Sony camcorder as well, did you install the software?

  3. Sounds like Windows thinks it's a webcam - read your camcorder manual and your capture software's help for instructions on how to capture from miniDV.
