  1. You're right, pv-gs39 is a miniDV vcam w/c must be firewire-connected to ur vaio to upload video. But upload is thru video capture or video editing* application (while vcam is on playback).

    for starters, free Windows Movie Maker* (XP-wmm2 & Vista-wmm6) provides simple & easy way to learn the ropes < click help for details>. Upgrade to other video editing app ( http://video-editing-software-review.top... ) accdg. to need & skill level

    Video Editing Process

    >>>>open wmm- start/all programs/wmm

    ..Step 1. Capture/Import video files (+pics, music) to be edited

    ..Step 2. Edit- drag/drop files->timeline & enhance w/effects, transition, music & titles

    ..Step 3. Finish (render)- save Movie file, also save Project* file

    ..Step 4. Share-burn to CD (to DvD thru a DvD authoring app)

  2. 4 pin to 4 pin?

    IF you have a firewire port in the vaio then it should be a larger 6 pin. i've never heard of a 4 pin computer port for fw.

    it's possible that your machine doesn't have one.

    but fear not! if it has an express card then you can buy an adapter to change it into a fw400 port if you so desire.

  3. Have you downloaded a updated driver for your camera from Panasonic??
