First, second, third and fourth worlds?

Am I the only one who feels that refering to a country as second, third and fourth world is unethical and completely retarded? Its based on economy, which is stupid since high economy doesnt mean high quality of life. It is akin to refering to people as barbarians, something that was outlawed in anthropology a long time ago.

It started as propaganda reffering to communist countries as second and third world, and capitalist as first world, and later fourth was added as a 'nomadic' country. Of course capitalist countries would be first world since they are focused on getting more money!

I swear I just want to punch anyone using these terms and ask them if my fist felt like a high economy fist.

  1. I don't think you're a fool - probably just immature and frustrated with ignorance.

No academic still uses these terms - they use the term developing nations.  Logically, saying second and third world doesn't even make any sense and it is arbitrary nomenclature.  However, it is important to distinguish the countries who make money and those who don't.  It is not racist or elitist to do so.  Furthermore, quality of life has a lot to do with wealth.  You are being naive to think otherwise.

By the way, communists love wealth - just like capitalists.  It is the means of production that they take issue with.  You should read Marx to get better clarification - communism is not what you think it is.  Perhaps the modern day application of communist theories is what is confusing you.  Communism has never been practiced as Marx presented it.

  2. i got to the end of the first sentence and realized youre a fool. you want a more politcally correct term for non-capitalist countries, yet you use a non pc term like "retarded" to describe your opinion. that doesnt work.

but i get your point. its kind of like calling lower income housing, "ghetto".

  3. The funny thing is, is that there is no such thing as a second world country. Just first and third, and yes they refer to economic development 1rst world =1rst tier of economic production capability, 3rd world =3rd tier... anyhow, not sure what your point is...and there isnt a "nomadic country" in the world...how can they be nomadic if they live in a single place which can be defined as a country?

  4. why are you asking all your questions twice?
