I can't believe it. But today I read this:

SUDDEN GOODBYE

Justine Henin abruptly ended her career at a news conference in Belgium today. The 25-year-old is still ranked No. 1 in the world but has suffered a string of heavy losses in the last few months. "It is a course that has been in my head for some months, since the end of 2007, well before Berlin," she said. "It is the end of a wonderful adventure, a childhood dream that is touching its end. But I have arrived at the end of the road, I lived everything, gave everything, and I have my head held high."

What is going on?

Hopefully this is just a break and she will be back. What do you think?

  1. frankie it is a d**n shame. But given all the upsets in her personal life recently with her parents, her brother in the car crash, the divorce, her mental game, the intensity that she competes with that makes her unpopular with the other girls who aren't as serious as she is and don't like getting their butts kicked by her tourni after tourni, and the extensive excruciating fitness routine she puts herself through it was just all too much. She had a very successful although be it short career. She got out at the top with no one even within any reasonable distance of catching her. And she may just have been burned out. So I wish her well and thank her for all the exciting matches she played and entertained the tennis faithful with.

And Annika too got out too soon another dominant female athlete with no real competition. Well it's her life her choice. But she was also quite fun to watch as she dominated the game of Ladies Golf.

Well it just creates an opening at the top of both sports for someone new to fill. All we need to do is see who has the desire and will power to step up to the challenge.

  2. I noticed that. Before I knew Juju retired, i saw Annika's news. I was thinking that "what is she thinking? she should play for a few more years!" and the Juju news came.

I hope Juju will return. Like martina hingis did.

She should win Wimbledon! She would become the second player to achieve the Golden Slam. Days ago, I was thinking that she'd win the Beijing olympics.

I really hope that she will return!

Well, we can't do much I guess. That's her decision.
