I don't have a ton of money lying around and I want a reliable car that I won't have spend an arm and a leg to fix every 10,000 miles. I'm a 16 year old paying for gas, a car, and insurance, so I need a care that is relatively low in insurance (sedan, non-sport coupe, etc) However, I do want to get where I'm going quickly. I'm quick aware of the Nissan Maxima and it's 6.3-6.7 0-60 speeds and I'm impressed, but I was wanted a broader selection. Thank You!

  1. Dream on; for that money, you will not get anything capable of those acceleration times. And what's a kid like you doing running 0-60 times in the 6's anyway? Want to kill us all?

Get a sensible, older car, and learn to drive properly. Most kids have accidents, which is why insurance is so high. Get a clunker, get older, save your money, and then buy that Maxima.

  2. Better save a few hundred of that money for a reliable radar detector. Be quick aware that when it goes off you best slow yourself down because insurance companies take it real hard on under 18/M with nasty driving records.

Just sharing life experiences ... @ 16 I got nailed for 53 & 75 in 35's. I paid for it and for a long time too...

  3. get a toyata or a honda. they always last

  4. You could always buy a cheaper car, and spend money to make it faster, if you're into that. I am 17 and bought an '03 Nissan Altima SE-R, and put 20's on it. It runs 0-60 in less than 6 seconds.

Nissan Sentras are good, reliable, and could be made to run fast. Another car begging for style and speed is the Acura Integra. Toyota Celicas are nice cars that many people overlook, and if you spend some money can be both fast and verrry good looking.

Let me know if you need any help man, I was in your situation about a year ago too. :)

  5. acura integra. sporty, reliable, fun to drive. easy to mod. low insurance, great mpg

  6. Nissan 200, Honda civic/accord. dodge neon. pretty much dohc, but watch oil level. main thing to do is maintenance. oil and filter!!but the Nissan 200 are pretty quick. maybe spend less and get parts. headers, cold air intake. performance computer. 5 speed. if you dont know how to drive it, learn!

  7. I would prefer Honda or Toyota.

You can easily compare insurance quotes for different cars in internet, for example here: http://autoinsurance.noneto.com

  8. I'm going to go with your first instinct. I have a Maxima. They're very safe, pretty reliable, and if you get one with an overdrive feature, you can beat those punk-asses who try to race you at stop lights. Great car. I strongly reccomend it.
