Hi, I'm an elementary teacher for grades 1-3 at a private academy. This is going to be my fifth year and every year I draw a blank as to what kind of activity I should do for the first day of school. If anyone has any neat and EASY(I can't stress that enough) ideas please list them for me. Also, if you know of any websites feel free to list them also. Thanks for all your help!

  1. make a circle and pass a ball down and tell them to state their name and one thing about each of them

feed them nonsugared cookies (food makes ppl like eachother)

  2. stand all the kids in a circle with a small foam ball and have them pass it around saying there name tell them it is so you will remember

  3. Go to www.edhelper.com You will find all kinds of easy ideas for the classroom. I home schooled my children and we also belonged to a home school group and the ed helper site was a great tool for all of us in various ages. It is a free service and has ideas and print-ables to use. I noticed other mentioned the ball game saying their names, but you could also include something they did over the summer, or their favorite TV show etc. I hope this helps.

  4. when you give them assigned seats go in a line and have them state everyone name in front of them. you can also have them say there name and one thing they did over the summer that they enjoyed

  5. COLOREING!!!
