First Ear Piercing.........?

I'm a guy and i'm gonna be 16 this year... I'm planning on piercing my left ear on October... but i'm afraid that an infection will occur... can anyone tell me what are the things that i can do to prevent infection from occuring? and is the gun thingy for piercing safe?

Go somewhere to get it donw, DO NOT do it yourself. You WILL get an infection.

use rubbing alcohol to clean your piercing. it may burn at first but it works

Well i have 5 ear piercing and not one infection. Just clean your ear with alcohol everyday for like the 1st month. Yes the piercing gun is safe and the piercing is really quick. Just make sure where ever you go to your piercing done is really clean and you will be fine. I bet you're going to look hot with your new look.

Yes, the piercing gun is totally safe for your ear lobes. Any other piercing... Go with a needle.

If you don't want the piercing to get infected then rotate it and clean it twice daily (with Clean hands). The piercing place you go to should give you a bottle of cleaner.

There is such a thing as over cleaning... And touching the piercing with unwashed hands can cause an infection due to the bacteria on your hands.

hha of course it's safe. where on your ear are you piercing it? if it's on your earlobbe then the chances of you getting an  infection are about zero. but i'd say go somewhere to get it done. it's "safer" and they'll prolly selll ear cleaning-things there. LOL but ear lobes never get infected unless you like infect them on purpose ;D

go to claires or icing by claires. they dont use needles and icing is inexpensive and they give you ear antiseptic to protect you from infection

To prevent just take care of it. Do sea salt and warm water soaks about twice a day and don't touch it if you haven't washed your hands. Also, most professional piercers prefer a hollow needle. the guns are impossible to sterilize completely and can cause a lot of damage.
