First Question: Is there such thing as natural Global Cooling?

If so, does that mean there is natural Global Warming?

If that is the case...how does one distinguish it from being caused by man or or caused by nature....

Second Question: Which is more dangerous Global Cooling or Global Warming?

If Global Cooling...wouldn't it be offset by man's intervention through certain pollutants that cause Global Warming?

  1. Yes there is global cooling and global warming, but we are changing the natural rates of the cycle and we have gone behond the normal level where it would start the global cooling process, for all we know it could be perminant and it will never return to its cycle

  2. yes. there is natural global cooling just like there is natural global warming. global warming has never been and never will be caused by humans. and man does not create enough pollutants to contribute to global warming.

  3. Some of the first problem is it was propagated by the Left,Gore. It has been proven to be a lie. once U start lying to the public how can we ever trust them. The amount of energy produced by man is very small compared to the sun light on the earth. The oil Co. are making billions , do u see something wrong with this.

  4. 1. Yes, the earth naturally heats up and cools down over millions of years.  It is not caused by humans.

    2. By using the 4 billion year history of the earth so far, cooling is more harmful since it can lead to an ice age

    3.  No.  Man is not powerful enough to affect long term temperature change.

The earths environment is very resourceful.  It is NOT fragile like many people would try to have you believe.

The person above me...Bob...is relying on computer models and mostly theories.

  5. first answer (only answer) yes their is, the hole in the ozone is mostly caused by volcanic ash, also the methane from cows creates much damage!

  6. Yes.

How do we distinguish natural warming/cooling from man made?

By looking at all the facts.

CO2 causes a greenhouse effect.  CO2 levels are rising because of burning fossil fuels, a fact proven by "isotopic ratios".  Solar radiation has been decreasing slightly, while temperatures warm.  CO2 has lagged behind temperature in the past while this time, they're going up simultaneously.  Etc.  There are many more.

Because of ALL the facts proving this, every major scientific organization has issued an official statement that this is real, and mostly caused by us.  The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Association, etc.

    Bottom line:

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)

    Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut

There's no need to say which is more dangerous.  We're in no danger of cooling now, only warming, caused by us.  That bottom line:

"If the Earth came with an operating manual, the chapter on climate might begin with a caveat that the system has been adjusted at the factory for optimum comfort, so don't touch the dials."

  7. Absolutly smog and other pollutents can block sunlight causing a cooling effect, global climate change can also cause a cooling effect

  8. Heard of the Ice Age?

  9. Massive volcanic erruptions could cause global cooling and it might bring on another ice age.

  10. well there has been a lot of scientific evidence proving the theory behind global warming - and about 50 years ago or something we were due for the planet to start to cool down I think - which it hasn't yet really.

  11. Yes, it's called nighttime.

  12. Volcanic ash isn't what affects the hole in the ozone.  Some have theorized that fluorine emitted from volcanoes there produced the hole. In any event, it probably has almost nothing to do with "global cooling or warming" in my opinion.  As a geologist, I haver learned that there is no such thing as stable global temperatures so obviously there are natural global warming and cooling trends.  It is cyclical based mostly on the tilt of the axis and variations in our orbit around the sun (Milankovitch Cycle).  Periodic cooling trend on scales of our lifetime are more likely caused by variations in solar output (both magnetic and radiation).

The truth is, human pollutants can affect the climate with cooling affects.  Alarmists suggest that this masks the real warming that has taken place.  In reality, we don't know enough to be sure of the effects.  I believe the effects are very small, probably mostly beneficial, and pose only a minor threat.

  13. Yes, there is kind of a global cooling, more toward the western Hemisphere. It is called La Nina, and it is altering the weather in the western hemisphere this year. This is not caused by man, and has been happening on average about every 40 years, and it has been dated back for millions. There is no known cause for this.

GLOBAL cooling, I have never heard of, but I know that global warming is real, and it is caused by man. So, global warming is much more dangerous. This year has been colder because of the La Nina effect, and it is not dangerous at all. This is why we have gained a small amount of ice in the arctic areas. Overall,  La Nina will not make a difference when global warming goes in to full swing. I hope that this answered your question!

  14. Geologically, Humans have been here for a few moments.

There is a case to be made for our changing the climate from gases and pollution.

AGalactic year is around 226 million Earth years long anf climate may well be affected in some way by this.

Cooling and Warming are 2 sides of the same coin, we may influence either by pollution.

warming may lead to a tropical climate in the temerate zones and desert in the tropics.

Cooling may be the beginning of an Ice Age.

We don't have enough information to be 100 percent sure of what may happen but the consensus is that we are changing the climate faster than the natural way.
