  1. no offense but at lowes it will probably be exciting for about 20 laps but come nightfall you may doze off. then wake up with 20 to go and its exciting again. long race, for a more enjoyable experience you should also try to make a visit to bristol speedway

  2. It's great i stood the whole time u will definitely wanna go to another one

  3. It's a rush hearing the cars come by for the first time. Get there early, make note of the beer stand and restroom locations, and don't throw anything at Kyle or Jeff.

  4. It's a blast!:) One thing i recommend is that if you go to qualifying guess the average speed the driver runs and have your buddies do it to, then see who was closest to the actual speed! And pick who you think will win.

P.S. There will be a lot of people there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm sure you'll have lots of fun!!!!:)   :)

  5. Not sure if your planning on spending the weekend there, or just a stop and go.  If it's a stop and go, park down by Hooters (exit 49 off of I85) or as close as you can to Hooters and walk to the track, roughly about a mile to mile and a half, 9 times out of 10, you'll get a ride in down in a back of a pick up anyway, it makes it quick as h**l to get out and hit I85 back home after the race is over unless you plan on doing some tailgating.

You'll find that the 600 is a very long race to go to for your first time out, but you'll love it.  I love Charlotte races and I'll be at the 500 this fall.

Theres really not a bad seat at Charlotte, but I prefer setting in turn 2, a ton of action there, the front stretch is great also just because you get to watch all the pitstops and pre-race activities.

At the front of the track, across the street, vendors are set up.  If you get there at a good time, drivers normally go by collectibles trailer and sign autographs.  I met Kenny Wallace one year out there and shot the breeze with him for about 15 mins.

If your looking for a party prior to the race, walk around the parking lots, look for the rowdy bunches and join in.  They'll treat you like family, especially if you bring some booze.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy it.

  6. It's a blast. You will see a very wide variety of people. Make sure you bring enough beer.

  7. Its SOOOO freakin fun, and SOOOOOOO freakin loud! Get some earplugs!! Its a lot of screaming, drinking, and head turning!! lol You will love it! I was never a fan until I went to a Nationwide Series (well Busch Series in 2007) and to my very first Sprint Cup this year on May 2nd in Richmond! It WAS AWESOME!!! HAVE FUN!!

  8. Loud, smells great, no seats needed, and you'll be back for more.

  9. It's like NASCAR Utopia!

    You'll have a blast!!

  10. There are PLENTY of things to do even for non-NASCAR fans!  You can shop, do activities (Irwin tools usually has something interesting), hang out at the SPEED stage and be on TV, etc...

Also, the coolest thing about the Memorial Day race is Speed Street in uptown.  They close down an entire section of uptown Charlotte and have concerts, give aways, drivers hang out, etc...

Oh, and I'll be at the track, too!

  11. it's awesome, fun exciting! you can visit speed home depot show and make a sign to show off your driver. you have alot of trailers to buy stuff, packed with people, some drivers have autograph sessions. people talk to all kinds of people because NASCAR is a family and were there's family theres friends! also some get very intoxicated, and start fights! but they are a blast to watch! also walking around the infield you get to see the driver's R.V's and maybe you will get lucky and see your driver either sitting in his R.V. or standing next to it. there is alsot of media there. also they have booth's set up for you to win a trip to victory lane to meet that driver in person who wins.

  12. I had no idea what to expect the first time I went to Michigan and it was like being with 120k of my closest family members.  There were ones I got along with (Jeff Gordon fans) and the ugly cousins (Tony Stewart Fans) and just the ones you can't stand but they have to stick around anyway, like the creepy uncle (Dale Jr Fans).  Overall it was one of the best experiences I have had.  My husband and I have been going to Michigan for 5 years and have starting making the treck to Talladega as well, and let me tell you 12 hours is worth it!  In short make sure you bring some water to drink with your beer (sometimes you may need it) and have a blast!

  13. it's splendiferous, then you need a cigarette...

    ;-)

for me, the coolest thing at my first race (vegas) was trying to focus on the cars.  when i'd get them all in focus at once, everything else became blurry.  then when i'd focus on anything else, the cars became blurry. and i was SOBER... in the past, i'd have had to pay good money and risk arrest to get that sensation...

    ;-)

in terms of sheer heart-stopping thunder and lightning, it's not quite an nhra event (where a general admission ticket comes with a pit pass and your heart STOPS when they stomp on the throttle), but as a visceral experience, it comes d@mn close.
