Question:

First Time On a Plane: Anything I Should Know?

by  |  earlier

I'll soon be going on my first plane trip. I've heard of tips like "chew gum if you have an earache at the take-off." Do you have any other tips/suggestions you think I should know for the security/trip/etc.?

  1. Turn your head and look out the window on takeoff, the world will tilt.

  2. If the people start crowding you and the seats are uncomfortable.  Start yelling "Death to the Infidels" that will scare all the terrorists away.

  3. First off packing,

    No sharp objects

Pack light because there are now fees on the limit of bags you can bring

All medicine should have a label on it

No drugs, bombs, fire works, or fire arms (fire arms only allowed below deck)

if you bring a laptop carry on, you must open it up when going thru the security check point

you may want to bring a deck of cards or a book to keep you busy during the flight

arrive at least 1 hour before flight, i usually arrive 2 hrs before just to be safe

Chew gum on take off to pop your ears

you may not want to take any thing bagged that is not vacuum sealed or it will expand and possibly pop

  4. 1. Even if you don't get motion sickness in a car it helps to take a pill for it about an hour before take off.  Trust me.

    2. Drink as much water as you can because when you dehydrate on a plane that is ugly!

    3. Also eat the peanuts or pretzels, it helps.

    4. Pack some ear plugs for take off and landing.

    5. Bring a book for a long flight.

    6. Put toothpaste and lotion in a quart size zip lock bag.

    7. Don't wear clothes that have metal things in them like some jeans have studs and stuff on them.  *Airport metal detectors will go nuts*

    8. Get to the airport about 2 to 3 hrs early.

    9. Don't hold bags that don't belong to you.

    10. Relax and have a good time.

  5. You will go up.  You will come down.  You WILL want the gum!  Have a fun flight.

  6. Don't think of bad stuff while in flight, just look out the window and be amazed at how the sky and earth look from that height.  If you have had ear problems, the ear popping will hurt, but it doesn't last long.  I have heard that cotton in the ears helps, but it never helped me.  (I had both ear drums ruptured)  Try to stay awake, something about the pressure in a plane always makes me sleepy.  Have a great flight.

  7. yes, chew gum to pop your ears, but if its a long flight drink lots of non carbonated fluids to help with jet lag. try sitting in an isle seat then you can walk easily to circulate your blood, the quantity of ,fluids will help your need to walk, enjoy your flight

  8. if the plane shakes at all YOUR GONNA DIE!!!! joke lol dont worry

  9. yea basically most planes crash and then you die in a fiery pit and its fun!

no just give yourself a ton of time to get passed security because they take forever.

don't over pack or they might charge you....

and i recommend not bringing a chainsaw knifes guns bombs swords matches anything flammable on the carry on and fireworks!

other then that you are totally fine! have a good flight!

  10. If you encounter turbulence hold on to the snack tray for dear life!

  11. I think that it is best to relax. With me, I get really nauseous after being on a plane and I can't eat much for a few days after. But, I discovered some medicine called Dramamine and it works really well. You take it 1/2 hour before the flight. It can be a bad thing or a good thing, but the medicine will knock you out! You will sleep through the whole flight. Also, if you're not too good with heights, don't get a window seat. The gum definitely helps with the ear ache. I hope that your flight goes well. Have fun! :D
