Question:

First Time Snowboarding Advice?

On christmas night I am going snowboarding with my brother at Mountain High on the 5-10 pm pass and am going to rent my board since it is my first time.

My brother snowboards all the time but I was wondering if you could give me advice so I don't end up on my *** the entire time.

  1. don't catch yourself with your hands when you fall down (and you will fall down) you don't want a broken wrist... I think it might ruin your week :)

But seriously - just have fun. Practice your heelside/toeside slides first and then move on to linking your turns.

  2. Bend your knees and lean back a little so if you fall, you'd fall on your butt rather your face and break your neck. It's so friggin fun so have fun and oh yea, your thighs are gonna be aching after a while. =)

  3. Know what foot you want to go down the hill first, wear a helmet (Trust me, if you fall wrong due to catching an edge or something, a helmet is something your going to want to have.)

When you rent the board, make sure its stance is comfortable for you, and don't do anything your not ready for!

    Have fun!

  4. thats cool, some advice?

    well wear appropriate clothing

Learn how to stop, and make turns, which is most important. Take lessons or ask your brother for help. Also, make sure to read the trail signs and read what kinds of trails, you do not want to go off a black diamond on your first time.

very helpful for many people I talked to, also, don't give up on snowboarding, many people switched to skiing and never really enjoyed the sport of snowboarding. Its gonna take time.

    good luck!
