  1. I think J Love and BooBoo covered most of it, but never put your fingers or hand around the rim of a cup/glass.  Always, under all circumstances, be polite.  Even if the customer is a total jerk, just smile and apologize and don't let it get to you.  There are plenty of people in this world who get a thrill out of making other people (especially servers) angry.  You are the better person if you can keep your temper in check.  One last thing, don't exacerbate or create drama with your coworkers, it never works out well.

  2. Be sure that the glasses are always filled, plates cleared away quickly and that you speak to children if they are at the table.

  3. Grab your tips quick because at a restaurant I used to work at a waitress stole others' tips.  Stay out of other people's way, and when you are behind someone with a tray you say "behind you."  Never p**s off the kitchen because they'll take forever getting your food out!  Also, don't try to carry too much :) lol once I had two trays in my hands and dropped em in the middle of the restaurant!  Always suggest apps and desserts because it makes the bill larger, which in turn, will make your tip larger.  Good luck!

  4. eveytime you serve a dish with brocolli or sausage, put them in your pocket and serve them to the customers from your pockets.
