Question:

First Trip to Paris?

Hey all!

So I'm going to Paris in about a week with the music program at my school to sing in Paris and Lausanne. Now I absolutely love fashion, but since the euro is so strong and I'm on a budget anyways (700 euros to take with me, and must pay for food for 8 days). So I obviously won't be going anywhere like Printemps or any of those big, expensive stores. I do, however, want to find some really Parisian clothes to bring home with me, and so can any Paris-experts recommend any good, cheap shopping destinations?

Thanks!

  1. Monoprix is a discount store that has some clothes.

If you don't mind second hand clothes, you could go to a flea market.  There's one at St. Ouen.

  2. Try to visit where the locals buy and get away where tourists often go.  There is a store called ZARA and it is famous in France and Spain.  They have special sales when seasons change.  I went to Paris last summer and I took the subway and buses and went to places where locals buy. I got many beautiful shirts for my sons' girlfriends.  I bought two genuine bags, one CD and one LV. I got them in a flea market on Sunday.  They are genuine and they look like new.  BUT .... Europe can get very expensive.  Try to eat on small cafeterias. We usually stopped on the ones that were full of locals and people who worked nearby.  Try the juices and the famous quiche.  Have fun!!!

  3. The French version of an outlet mall called La Vallee Village (3, cours de la Garonne Paris 77700) where over 75 leading ready-to-wear, table ware and luxury labels offer their previous season's collections (minimum of 33% reduction (off original recommended price) and up to 60%).

Its actually outside Paris but easy to get to. by the RER commuter train to the Val d'Europe station.

Better still, three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays), there is a Cityrama shuttle service that goes there. Departure from the Cityrama agency, place des Pyramides, at 10:15 am and return to Paris at approximately 5:00pm.

The fare is 15€ round trip. Reservations are required by 5:00pm the day before departure, at your hotel desk or Cityrama agency.

    Their website is here:http://www.lavalleevillage.com/lavallee/...

There is also the The Quai des Marques It also sells lots of last year clothes and features 73 fashionable brands, most of them french.

The Quai des Marques is located 9, Quai du Chatelier 93450 Ile Saint-Denis. It is open from 11am to 8 pm from Mondays to Fridays and from 10am to 8 pm on Saturdays.

It can be reached by taking the #137 Bus marked "Direction : Industrielle Nord" to the Blvd. Marcel Paul Stop.

It has a website here: http://www.quaidesmarques.com/

  4. There is a mall called le gallerie. I remember it being really huge and having a lot of stores.  There were quite a few with reasonably priced stores with good quality clothes.

    Bon Chance!
