First Trip to the Gyno....?

Question

I know it is coming soon... I am 16, almost 17... My mom thinks I should go... Can anyone give me what they do there and I need a lot of details... If you could give me anything that would be great... Maybe even a scale of pain with everything... Thanks so much!

It doesn't really hurt. They will do a breast exam where they feel your b*****s and nipples with their fingertips (looking for lumps), then the do an internal exam where you will lie back with your legs in the stirrups and the doctor will insert 2 fingers into your v****a and place his/her other hand on your abdomen. Exerting a little pressure from inside and out they will determine that all your parts are normal sized and where they should be. They may or may not do a pap smear your first time. This requires that they insert an instrument called a speculum into your v****a to open it up a little so they can see your cervix and then they take a scraping from your cervix (which might hurt just a tiny bit) to send to the lab. That's it. you can feel a little stiff from the poking around but may not even feel that. You will probably be concentrating so hard on counting the tiles on the ceiling that you may not even notice. :) Hang in there kiddo, none of us like it but we go once a year anyway.
