Question:

First Wisdom Tooth Growing In...?

Last month, the way back left bottom side of my mouth started hurting, and about a week later I realized my first wisdom tooth was coming in. The pain went away after it broke through the skin, and I never really thought about it until today. I got a really bad headache, so I took some ibuprofen & took a nap. The pain isn't quite as bad now, more kinda numb, but it's still in the bottom left corner of my mouth. I have a few questions. What are wisdom teeth & why do they come in so late? About how much longer in general should it take for the one tooth to come in? How much longer after that will it take for the next three, and when do I know they are ready to come out? I should probably add that I'm only fifteen. I hear the process is different at certain ages, but I'm not sure how. If someone can help me out, I'll be very appreciative. Thanks :)

  1. its different for everyone. you may or may not need them out. wisdom teeth ALWAYS hurt when they come in, they can be really painful for a while, and they will end up popping out of your gums then going back down a few times before they actually come up. your best bet is to go to the dentist and they will do x-rays of your mouth to see if you will need them out or not.

  2. What are wisdom teeth & why do they come in so late?

    late molars.

About how much longer in general should it take for the one tooth to come in?

Much like baby teeth or adult teeth, 1-2 months and they SHOULD be in

How much longer after that will it take for the next three, and when do I know they are ready to come out?

you can get them out as soon as your dentist discovers they are buds. If you ever had braces, the sooner the better so as not to mess up yor current progress. And I only had 2 total... your dentist can tell you when the others will come in IF you have them to come in.

I should probably add that I'm only fifteen. I hear the process is different at certain ages, but I'm not sure how.

I had my wisdom teeth out at 17. they started coming in at 16

  3. Well, I had been having weird pains back there for years, until my bottom right one came through a few months ago. It's been hanging out just above the skin since then, and I can't tell yet when my others will be in. What I have been planning to do, and what I think you should do, is go to the dentist, and ask them what they recommend. I am 20, by the way. Anyway, some mouths can fit the teeth, and others just can't. If you are getting headaches and pains then I imagine that you probably need them taken out, in which case they can be taken out before they even come through. As far as when the others will be coming in, I really can't say, because it is very different for each person. Like I said, my first came in awhile ago, probably 6 months or so, and I haven't noticed the others trying to. Hope I helped!
