First baseman Casey Kotchman shows optimism for being part of Cleveland Indians – MLB Update
The Cleveland Indians’ first baseman Casey Kotchman is showing great optimism for being part of the team this Major League Baseball season.
After spending entire 2011 season with the American League east franchise Tampa Bay Rays, the first baseman is feeling pleased to be part of the Tribe, who are looking aggressive once again in 2012 MLB competition after performing well in last season’s outing.
Lately Kotchman stated in the media for his recent form and explained in detail about the factors behind it. He said, “It’s hard enough to hit when you can see clearly, When you’re blurry, it makes it that much more difficult. I think it might have been a gradual thing and it came to a head in 2010. That offseason I had a procedure done on my eyes and got my vision cleaned up.”
Kotchman added with confidence and self assurance when asked about his level of performance in the season, “I had some gland and tear issues that got corrected. I was trying to clean up some flaws in my swing from the previous year. When my eyes were messed up, I got into some bad habits. I’m still working on those things.”
Kotchman is currently playing with a hitting average of .216 along with two home runs, four RBIs and .275 OBP, certainly giving a helping hand to his team as well.
On the other hand, his career hitting average of .267 along with 61 home-runs, 336 RBIs and .335 OBP also makes him a good role player.
Having eight-year of Major League experience, Kotchman has possesses the right know-how to tackle different team environments as he has played for several MLB teams in the past as well.
Starting his career in 2004 with the Los Angeles Angels, he went on to play for the Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Bays.
In the meanwhile, this is a healthy sign for the Indians on the whole as their one of the newest player in the roster, is playing well in the season and also hoping to carry this form forward in the competition.
