I'm 17 Years old, 5'10, 150 lbs. I rode dirt bikes as a kid and i will take a motorcycle safety course. I was planning on a 250 ninja just to be safe but don't want to buy one and outgrow it in a year. On the other hand, i want a bike i can handle given my size and skill. I do plan to respect the bike and I'm not the type to show off by riding like an idiot. I really like the look of the 650 rather than the 500. i plan on buying new because i don't have the money to buy used but i can easily make monthly payments. I want some opinions from more experienced people so i don't make a stupid decision.

  1. go big or go home. a 250 on the street will get you ran over, get the 650 at least. go fast and don't look back. try not to get hit by other vehicles.

  2. go big or go home?

  3. im 18 and got the new zxr250 ninja it does go great its a fun bike to ride. im happy i got it but when it comes down to it a dirt bike is way more fun save your money till u get ur blacks and buy a 600/1000

  4. Dude listen to me carefully, its best to start with a 500  of course, but im not kidding you when i tell you that you will outgrow it in like 2 weeks, so get like a 600 or 650. just be carefull when you get on the highway and dont push it at first, even if you feel like your in full control wait a couple of months until you speed or split traffi at high speeds or anything like that.

    Good luck

  5. Don't hesitate to get the 250 or the 500 ninja's.  You won't have any problem with power for a little while on the 250R.  However, the 500 has around double the horses as the 250.  If you think you may get bored with the 250 too fast, go with the 500.  The resale value on both the 250 and the 500 are great.  You'll get nearly every cent you paid for them back.  Losing around $500 for a bike after 1 or 2 years of riding it isn't that bad.  So, don't worry about having to sell it and buy your next bike.

  6. 250R
