  1. We had strawberry shortcake for my son's first birthday.  It was inexpensive and delicious.  Try using an angelfood bundt style cake from the supermarket bakery. Put the sweetened strawberries on top and put little squirts of whip cream on each piece after slicing.  Less than $20 in all!

Bonus: whip cream doesn't stain baby's skin obnoxious colors like a lot of frostings can do.

  2. Cold Stone Creamery RULES~

    you wont be disppointed

  3. There is one place that I would like for you to try...but it's in Chinatown (Los Angeles)...it's called the Phoenix Bakeries Inc. ...but then again...you can't go wrong with Cold Stone.

  4. Get the large cake @ Costco there are different styles you may choose from!  Get the small cake @ Baskin Robbins they have really cute tiny ice-cream cakes, just ask, and make sure to thaw it out ahead of time so it could get all over your little 1yr old.

  5. Cold Stone cakes are fantastic but horribly expensive.  I'd check your local Dairy Queen or Baskin Robbins first.

Or just bake a cake from a box.

  6. Ck with your local grocery store.  Many of them (Albertsons, Ralphs) have free first birthday cakes.  They are small round cakes, nicely decorated.  With a free cake for the little one, you can spend a little extra on the guests.  For that, gotta go to Costco.  Their cakes are the best.
