  1. Ok first of all you're gonna start getting hounded by campus credit sharks. Be very careful not to apply for more than one card.

    1. Make sure it's a student card that offers no annual fee.

    2. Make sure they give you a competitive student rate

    3. Make sure the grace period is at least 21 days.

    4. Make super sure you can pay for what you charge

    5. Do NOT max out your card, use it sparingly and only for what you really need.....a CD is not a necessity.

    6. Always pay on time

    7. It's ideal to pay in full, if you can't ALWAYS pay the * minimum

    * Remember if you only pay the minimum the balance will attract interest

    8. NEVER lend your card to anyone

    9. Keep your card in a safe place, if you lose it, report it stolen immediately.

Good luck on your credit building.

  2. Spend Spend Spend!

  3. credit cards labeled as "Student Credit Cards" have higher interest rates, and most of the time you will be approved for a regular credit card with lower interest rate, no annual fee, and great rewards.

here are two cards that i highly recommend.

    Blue from American Express®

    Citi® Platinum Select® MasterCard®

if you would like to compare them to student credit cards here iis a list of 11 student credit cards.

  4. You should go to Capital One first they usually start you off with $300 then they move you up to $500 if you pay on time within the first 3 months and sometimes $750 3-4 months after that

Open one account, then about 2 months later get another card.  Do not get a third card until next year applying for too many credit cards can ruin your credit.

  5. Yes - my advice is don't do it.  A lot of people think you have to get a credit card to establish your credit.  NOT SO!  You can establish credit by having a bank account and using a debit card.  This will prohibit you from spending money you don't have.

IF you still want to get one, have them set the limit at $500.  This is enough to help you if you need tires or a doctor's appointment but not enough that you'll get in trouble and not be able to pay it off.  BE CAREFUL and use it responsibly.

  6. Banks offer student cards that you might be eligible for. You can try applying for one of them and see if they approve you. It it doesn't work out, you can try applying for cards that don't require any credit history. All these cards can be found at the site below. There are too many student cards to list here.
