  1. after the safety drill, then you can do whatever you like, roam around the ship and see what is going on and get the feel of the place and where the best places to be are etc.  or you can just relax by the pool while drinking Margareta's.  it's all up to you what you want to do.  you can even just hang out in your state room if you choose (not all that much fun though unless your girlfriend is with you)

  2. Another thing that you must do after you get on, is check your dinner schedule on your cruise card such as is it first seating. If it is not what you want, find your apporiate dinning room and get your name on a list to change. You can eat dinner in the dinning room if you wish on the first day too. No worry about what to wear. They don't mind what you wear on the first day. Definitely check out the ship and get acquainted with it. Also you may want to go to there library and check out a book. The best books get checked out early. Then sit back and have fun.

  3. You have to do the safety drill (boring) and thats about it.  It's a great time to become familiar with the ship.

  4. i know this is weird, but i love the hustle and bustle of check in and such. they do a bag check like an airline, and they make you empty your pockets of everything, again, like an airline. they usually board passengers by section, from bow to stern i believe. sometimes you dont get your bags til later at night when the stewards bring them to your room. the longest it took for my family to get our suitcases was the day after we boarded, but usually its much faster. they make sure your tickets are valid and all that normal security stuff. also, the first day they do a safety drill where they show you where to go incase of an emergency and how to use lifejackets and what not.

once all that is taken care of you can basically do whatever. lay by the pool, get a snack, relax in your cabin, or explore the ship. of course there are more options than that, but those are what i personally like to do most

  5. After checking in all you you have to do is participate in muster and have an awsome time

  6. You have to wait in line for hours to board the ship along with 2 thousand other people. After that it's anything you want to do.

Eat, drink, explore, unpack........Safety drill will be conducted the first day also. Your life preserver is in your cabin, so take it with you when you leave your room. It saves you a trip back to get it.

  7. Show up and check in.

  8. This is what I do:

    1) Get on the ship.  Most cruise lines take your picture. (when you put your room key into their machine to get on & off the ship your photo comes up so they can make sure it's you.)

    2) ESCAPE MY PARENTS.  I'll see them in a week...

    3) Find the location of the stateroom, see if it's ready.  Dump my carry on in there if it is.

    4) Explore the ship!  Every deck, foward to aft.  I always check out the show lounge, too.  Usually there's no one in there the when passengers are still boarding.

    5) Eat.  If you're really hungry you can do this before step 4.  I have a tradition of going to the lido deck and getting a chicken sandwich & fries at the grill line for my first lunch.

    6) Go to the room (usually available by then) or do some more exploring, whatever I fee like.  Maybe go shopping on board.

That night I go to dinner in the dining room, meet the waiter, etc.  Then sometimes go to the show.  You know, its pretty much whatever I feel like doing from there on out.

  9. Usually when you board the ship there is a buffet lunch ready in the ship's buffet area.  Most times staterooms are ready and you can go put your carry on bags away and put your valuables in the safe.  If you board really early, like around noon, sometimes some staterooms are not ready you you may have to wait an hour or so until it is ready.

After lunch you can and should tour the ship to get an idea of where things are and how to get there.  When you board the cruise line's staff will give you a newsletter type flier with the time and location of all activities the first day.  You can look to see if there are any guided tours of the ship, otherwise go on your own and take pictures.

If you know ahead of time that you want to use the pool, hot tub or gym right away then you should pack clothes for that in your carry on bag because your luggage will normally not get to your cabin until much later in the afternoon, sometimes not all of it until the ship sails.  But the point is the pools, hot tubs, gym, game room, basketball court and such things will be available as soon as you board.

After all of the passengers are on board the first order of business is a mandatory for everyone safety drill and you will be required to get your life vest from your cabin and go to the place indicated on the back of your cabin door for the drill.  After that drill is over you can do whatever.  The cruise staff usually goes to the pool area and starts a sail away party with music and dancing.

The casino on ship will not open until the ship is about 50 miles from shore, about half an hour after sailing; shops will open shortly after sailing.  the bars will be open as soon as you get on ship.

One of the places that you for sure should visit the first day is the main dining room to find your table assignment (unless you do a NCL cruise with no table assignment).  If for some reason you want to change it, they take requests for change in the order received.

  10. You have to participate in a safety drill, they will tell you what to do in an emergency and tell you where the life boats are and where the life jackets are and then you can start enjoying you vacation. :)

  11. well the first thing they do is lead you to the lunch buffet, after 1:30 about you can go to your room and unpack, then you can eat again, then go on deck and watch the ship leave port, and it is a good idea to just explore the ship and see where everything is. as far as activities they will have a list in the cabin and it is different on each ship, there is a welcome aboard show too
