My 3.5 yr old daughter will be starting preschool tomorrow. It's for an hour and a half two days a week. How should I say goodbye? Should I say "Mommy is going for a walk, I'll be back soon." Or should I just say "Mommy is leaving. See you soon!" She's got a speech delay so she might not be able to express what she's feeling and that makes it really hard on me. I'm sure she'll be fine but it's the first time.

  1. tell to go play with the other children and have fun and that you will be back in a little bit

  2. You should say Mummy is going to the shop to get you something nice and she will be excited

  3. Just abandon her and don't come back.

She'll forget you in no time. It's not like they'll want you back in about... come...20 years from now.

  4. just say that mommy will be back  to see you later you will have fun and make lots of nice friends !

  5. I just told all three of mine " Mommy loves you and will see you soon.  Have fun with your new friends!"  It will be hard, but it'll be harder on you than her.

    Good Luck!!

  6. First things, don't lie.  You don't want to upset your daughter later by having her think you are going ot be gone for 8 hours when you take a walk.  A simple "Mommy has to go now.  I'll be back this afternoon and can't wait to hear all about your day" lets her know that you are leaving, but you are coming back and gives her a plan for later.  And don't forget to tell her you love her (not that you are likely to forget that) .  I have 4 kids, and that seemed to work really well with all of them.

  7. tell her your gonna buy some groceries

  8. Today was my daughters first day of preschool. I told her she would have a lot of fun, waved good-bye and blew her a kiss. She was fine.

  9. my daughter is in preschool for her speech delay as well. it was fairly easy her first day because she's a very social girl. we went in with her, put her bag away, stayed only a couple of minutes and then looked right at her and said, we're going to go now, you stay here and play and be a good girl and we'll pick you up later. she was fine with it. i know the speech delay makes you feel like you can't talk to her (i felt like that) but just because she can't articulate what she wants to say doesn't mean you can't be straight forward with her. it took me a while to understand that, and feel that i caused some of her delay by doing that. and its a fact that speech delay kids have more tantrums because they don't know how to tell you whats going on. that gets better with time. preschool is the best thing you can do for her right now. enjoy you're alone time, and then have fun talking to her about her day.

  10. I think you should say, "Mommy is leaving, see you in a little while!" I believe it is important to tell her the truth, even though she is only 3, she will eventually lose trust in you if you don't always try and tell the truth.

  11. I would tell her that it is playtime for her and her new friends, and that Mommy is too big to play. What do you normally tell her when you leave her for other things? Try something similar.

  12. a childs mind is slightly dilusional... he can only think in 2 dimensions until his mind becomes more developed. she needs to learn to self soothe so just be calm with her and dont pay too much attention when she bals out crying. then she will be able to handle the fact that she is on her own. also you need to establish colaberative meetings with her weekly to help with the emotional distress.

  13. I don't have kids. I'll try my best?

Just tell her "Go have fun, with all these people and mommy will be back soon!" ..Walk her in though, stay with her for a couple of minutes until she adjusts, and then slowly leave..

  14. Just tell her to go and have fun. You don't have to make it obvious that you are leaving. Believe me out of sight...out of mind really works.
