  1. I worked at KFC for four years as a kid. At age 40 making almost 70K/year today, I can honestly say it was the most fun job I ever had.

The pay was good for a teenage (even back then.)

Your first day will be confusing and probably frustrating. A lot of watching and s******g up. But, it will get easier everyday after that. Don't worry to much over it.

You'll probably spend most of your time getting hit on by the boys working there.

  2. RELAX SARAH!  Those folks just make fast food, collect money and keep the premises clean.  It isn't rocket science and you will receive instructions about what to do.

My suggestion is that you determine to keep a smile on your pretty face (they like that) and listen carefully to what they teach you to do.  Above all, they don't want to hear about how you do things at home, your last job, etc....  They have a certain way of doing things and want everything done that way - even if their way sounds stupid, just do it.

Pretend that all the customers are beloved family members and you are delighted to see them.  They'll love you if you can pull that off (and they'll probably make you a manager in about two weeks).  GOOD LUCK SARAH!!!!

  3. Yes. I remeber My first day at Dairy Queen, I was shooken up about it. Just try to listen to all the things they say so you don't have to keep asking, although ive been working at DQ for 9 months and i still ask questions. Also remember that its all about speed in fast food. If they havent given you a uniform or a packet or anything yet then yeah you should probably just show up in regular clothes.

  4. You're suppose to enter at the back entrance and pound the door loud so someone will open it for you.  Then go in and they usually give you your uniform and take you on a tour of the restaurant.  They'll make you sign papers if they didn't all ready do your paperwork in the interview.  Someone will train you in the position they put you and hopefully they'll tell you everything you need to know.  The person who trained me didn't.  So ask a lot of questions.

  5. Well, if you've already been hired, then your first day is likely just orientation. You just come up to the counter and say, "Hi, I'm Sarah. I'm here for orientation (or my first day of work)." They will likely then get the manager, or bring you back to meet him/her. If they haven't told you what to wear, then you can just show up in street clothes. However, most fast food places require their employees to wear black shoes and black pants, so if you show up wearing that, it would probably impress them.

At the orientation the manager tells you about stuff like breaks, discount policies, etc, etc.  They will also get you to fill out some paperwork, so bring your bank info and your social security number.

On your first training day, you will get your uniform, be shown around, and likely shown an easy station, such as cleaning lobby, or doing fries. It's very unlikely that you will be trained in kitchen or till on your first day, unless you've had prior experience.

The most important thing is to be friendly and enthusaistic and ask questions. I've trained lots of crew and it's frustrating when they have this blank stare on their face and don't ask questions. If you're friendly, enthusiastic, and asking questions, you'll definitely have the right foot forward!!

    Good luckk!!
