First day results of EURO Futsal qualifying rounds
The top teams of the European Futsal remained successful in the qualification rounds for the UEFA Futsal Championship 2012. At the end of the first day matches Spain the current title holder, Azerbaijan, Italy, Czech Republic and Russia won their matches.
Although for most of them the matches remained tough.
The Union of European Football association UEFA held the qualification rounds in different countries. The matches are being played in six groups with four teams in each group. The second round will be played today 25th February and the decider on Sunday
27th February.The six winning teams and the five best runners up will proceed to the final championship along with the host nation Croatian team.
Group 1
In the first group Spain faced France and got away with 4-0. Borja scored the first goal in the tenth minute followed by Alvaro, Fernandao and Fabian. The other match of the group was played among Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. The host nation Azerbaijan won
the match by 6-3, the first goal of the match was scored by the host nation. Nicholai Kazakov scored the first goal in the ninth minute of the match. The host nation levelled the score by the end of the first half the score was 3-1. In the second half Kazakhstan
won two late goals but the host nation was on a lead with 6-3 there was no way that they would have lost the match.
Group 2
In the first match Russia defeated Finland by 5-1. Russia scored the first goal in the first minute of the match and proved their dominancy on the match. In the second match of the day Serbia and the host nation Netherlands. Serbia was the quarter finalist
in the last championship in 2010, the match ended in a draw 3-3. Netherlands played a very defensive game although they had made their debut in the qualification rounds. Netherland had an early lead of 2-0, but the Serbians levelled the situation in the last
14 seconds.
Group 3
Portugal faced Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia; the Macedonian team showed a brilliant performance and the goal keeper Miroslav Todorovski did not let the opponent team score a goal after the first one and won the match by 3-1. In the other match host
nation Poland competed with Belarus, both the teams remained levelled and the match ended in a draw 2-2.Group 4
The bronze medallist of 2010 EURO Futsal Championship played a very close match with the Norwegian team, who made their debut in the Futsal qualification rounds. In the first half the situation favoured the Norwegian team and they were leading by 2-1. After
the half time Roman Mares and Belej from Czech took the game into their hands and won the match by 4-3. The second match of the round was played amongst the host Romania and Slovakia. The Romanian team dominated in the start but the goal keeper Mario Gasparovic
of the Slovakian blocked a lot of goal attempts of the host nation. The results were quite close a Slovakia won by 6-5. No matter how things worked out for Slovakia  the only thing important was that they won.
Group 5
The runners up twice of the Euro Futsal Championship faced Belgium in the first match of the round. He match remained levelled but the host Ukraine did not let go and won the match by a close fight 4-3.

Turkey emerged as a surprise for the Hungarian team, the host of the last Futsal championship lost against Turkey by 3-2. The match remained levelled till the end of the second half but on the 38 minute Burak Yildirim scored the decider goal for Turkey.
Group 5
The champions of 2003 Euro Futsal Championship won against Latvia by 6-1. In the other match Slovenia defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina by 5-1.
