Question:

First gynecologist appointment...?

My mother scheduled me for my first gynecologist appointment to see about getting me on birth control for bad periods. I’m not nervous about the appointment itself, but I think I may have a problem.

I’m seventeen years old, and I have a very very strong unbroken hymn….Up to this date I have been unable to use a tampon, it won’t even get past the hymn tissue. I have used a mirror and I see no way that one could get past the hymn at all. An ex boyfriend of mine was unable to get through with a finger and as hard as he tried it still wouldn’t budge. My current boyfriend has the exact same problem, and he has been with other women so I know it’s not just me. How in the world is she going to open me up to examine when I can’t even get in…. I know I’m not angled weird. I’ve tried every possible angle over the years.

  1. Then this will be a great opportunity to discuss your hymen issues with a doctor. You are at an age where you can talk alone with the doctor so that you can be honest about your concerns. Obviously, if the doc cant take a look up there it's potentially a health issue anyways.

  2. Heya,

If she examines you and she cant get in, she will proceed to cut your hymen with a scalpal. That will surely break it let me promise you so dont worry. Once it has been broke she may do one of two things examine you there and then ( and your gynalogical appoitment will carry on as normal) or she will call you back in a week or so and perform the rest of the appoitment then ( this is because it gives everything a chance to heal after she has cut it). But this really depends on the doctor and everyone of them is different. After this procedure has been performed you more than likely will be able to use a tampon with some success.

Hope i helped and dont worry this can all be sorted i promise you.

  3. If she has to, she will cut it with a scapel.

  4. You can explain the situation to her--I'm sure this is something they've seen before, and you may not need a pelvic exam. Before she does anything to the hymen, make sure that she tells you what she's planning to do.
