  1. The main thing is too RELAX. Go to an open show -where its lower level and less competitive. Im not sure if you ride hunters or jumper but local level shows usually just have hunters. [Hunter horses are paced and have good form over fences whereas jumper horses are based on time and clearing an obstacle without knocking it down]. ALSO, NEVER wear a BLACK hunt show coat. They are not allowed in hunters. I did that a few times until I read its not suitable.

Have your classes printed out so you save time the morning of the show. Always arrive at least an hour early for warm up rides, as they sometimes let you practice over fences before the show starts. Good luck!

  2. be confident

  3. Stay relaxed. The horse will feel you tension if you are not. Memorize you course early, so you are not cramming it in right before you go out, but do go over it again right before you go out. Be confident, judges like to see riders who know what they are doing. Make sure you and your horse are clean, looking messy is a dumb reason to loose a ribbon.

As you are jumping remember to breath. Keep you heels down. Put them further down than you normally do so that when you are consintrating on other things they don'e sneak up on you. HAVE FUN!!!!

If you do not have fun it is not worth the money to horse show.

  4. Make sure your ready for it !!!!!

if you are then make sure your tack ,your horse, and your self is clean and every thing is neat

then get their early '' then watch the judging watch who the judge picks and remember who he picks , and if he likes a certian style you might want to do what the others did !!

    and be confident ,

The worst is getting mad at your horse is something goes wrong DON;T DO THAT !!!!

Good luck Just make sure you remember your course before hand

And make sure your ready to show if in doubt go But if you think your over your head dont show that day .. watch and learn

Ps You are there to win ( most wont agree)I have my reason's  for that

Your training is done at home !!!!

Now if your horse is new to showing ,,then well he needs the experience But remember that what ever happens that day he will remember  so do a good job on what you have learned ok
